Greetings… My name is Lyn Stan and I’m the President of the new Hampton Falls, NH nonprofit 501(c) (3) Performing Arts & Education organization Friends of the Bandstand. Our premiere Concerts on the Common series unveils Thursday, June 9th, from 6:30 – 7:45 PM and will run every Thursday through the end of August on the town common Bandstand / Gazebo (located at the intersection of Rte.88 & Rte.1)
2016 is our first year as a presenting organization we are excited about the highly diverse realm of extremely talented as well as highly respected musical groups that we’re scheduling. From West African Drum & Dance groups, Bluegrass to Newgrass, Jazz from the great American Songbook, Afro Cuban traditional Son Music to good ole Country, Blues & Rock & Roll this is a series that will entertain as well as educate. There will also be at least 6 follow up meet & greet the artist events held at Audio Video Experience (33 Lafayette Rd. Hampton Falls) where each respective artist will discuss the music & culture that their musical genre grew out of. All of this and more, is free to all residents, tourists, families and geared with all ages in mind. Our goal? That is to entertain and at the same time broaden the musical scope of our community and all of those attending. It’s a perfect atmosphere to enjoy the music, food, and camaraderie every Thursday evening.
In order to continue offering quality performances to support the operation of the bandstand, the Friends of the Hampton Falls Bandstand seek donations and sponsorships for our inaugural 2016 Summer Concert Series. There will be 2500 programs printed where all businesses and individuals are recognized for their donations. We feel it is important that those who enjoy the concerts be made aware of everyone’s generous contributions.
Though we are new, our board of directors has collectively over 50 years of experience in presenting the entertainment at some of the most prestigious festival and series in the greater Seacoast area. You
might say, we are the epitome of grass roots, community org. For over a decade I was the primary entertainment scheduler for a smaller focused concert series at the bandstand. And before that I worked for 5 years fundraising and gaining community support for the actual bandstand to be built! You might say everything for the last 20 years has been a rehearsal for this project. As a musician myself, it’s important to me to bring the best music back to my home area.
Sharing the booking of the band duties with me, for the first time is our vice president Tj Wheeler. Tj is well known, an internationally respected Blues & Jazz Musician/Educator. Tj also was the artistic director for 20 years of both the Seacoast Black Heritage Festival, and the Portsmouth Blues Festival. He also booked the entertainment one year with Michael Warhurst for the Prescott Park Arts Festival and has produced a plethora of other concerts for such events and causes as MLK Day, The Portsmouth
Black Heritage Trail, Crossroads Transitional Housing, a Hurricane relief concert for the Jamaican employees of Applecrest Farms and much more. Our board, Tj and I feel confident feel that this series will be one of the finest that any of us have participated in. In order to make this a reality, our all volunteer board does need your support.
The Friends of the Bandstand are 100% volunteer driven. EVERY $dollar$ raised goes to the overall costs of our productions. If you would like to sponsor a particular concert, please contact me. Your business can also have a sign or logo that could be displayed prominently on our Digital electronic video monitor (courtesy of Audio Video Experience). We’re looking forward to this unique and innovative summer of music and entertainment at the Bandstand. We thank you in advance for any contribution you wish to make.
